About Ali and her journey
I started Alison Woodham Photography more than 15 years ago as a part-time freelance business, driven by a passion for storytelling through images. I’ve always loved the creative challenge of transforming everyday objects and spaces into striking, eye-catching photographs.
For the last 11 years, I also had a permanent role within the marketing team of a leading national garden product company. That experience developed a strong understanding of marketing strategy, product presentation and customer perception, helping me create visual content that genuinely connects with audiences.
After being made redundant at the end of last year, I decided to take the leap into full-time freelance photography. I’m now focused on growing my network of loyal local clients, building lasting relationships, and continuing to create authentic, impactful imagery for businesses and individuals alike.
Proudest moment
Seeing my garden product photography displayed as large-scale wall posters at GLEE, the UK’s leading garden retail trade show.

Build relationships, not just a client list. Trust and connection create long-term opportunities.

Stay consistent and keep showing up. Success takes time, resilience and strong relationships.
What I enjoy most about my work
I love taking everyday—or even slightly uninspiring—products and bringing them to life through natural light, styling and thoughtful composition.
I also enjoy the variety that comes with working on location and spending time outdoors rather than being tied to one office environment.
Being part of SBN
I’m relatively new to SBN, but I’ve really enjoyed meeting so many inspiring women with diverse businesses, ideas and experiences. It’s been incredibly motivating, and I’m looking forward to building meaningful connections and learning from others along the way.
