SBN committee

SBN is a not-for-profit organisation run by volunteers committed to working on behalf of its members to offer an affordable, friendly and supportive network to help local businesswomen thrive – both professionally and personally.

The committee meets regularly to plan events, speakers and training. Each member of the committee has a specific role and brings valuable skills and contacts from their working lives. In return for running and promoting our meetings and social and training events for the benefit of all SBN members and guests, our committee members receive free annual SBN membership.

SBN also pays a part-time administrator.

Sue Eskins

Chair

Elected in 2025 as Chair of SBN, Sue coordinates and guides the committee to stay focused while planning events, running meetings, and making decisions. Sue draws on her wealth of experience in leadership, her management skills as an executive coach, and her senior leadership experience in health and adult education to ensure effective, collaborative outcomes.

 Nicola Banning

Networking & training

It’s Nicola’s task to find inspiring women to speak to SBN members about their business journey—the highs, the lows, and everything in between. With a lifelong interest in people’s stories, Nicola works closely with Alison Tarbuck to bring SBN members wide-ranging and engaging talks delivered by businesswomen who get things done.

Karen Blaylock

Website manager

It’s Karen’s role to make sure SBN’s website works seamlessly for members, keeping everything up to date and running without a hitch. She also supports Diane with membership processing, helping members feel welcomed and well looked after from the start. With an eye for detail and a love of problem-solving, Karen enjoys making the online side of SBN as friendly and efficient as the community itself.

Alison Tarbuck

Networking, marketing & members

Alison works alongside Nicola to bring local businesswomen to speak to the group at meetings. She also works closely with Carolyn to promote SBN in the community. This includes the physical side of marketing and advertising, as well as encouraging other businesswomen in the area to come and see the many benefits of being part of our fabulous networking community.

Carolyn Williams

 Treasurer, marketing & members

Carolyn manages the network’s finances and reports to the committee. She also works closely with Alison Tarbuck to promote SBN in the wider local community with a view to encouraging new members to join and network with other like-minded businesswomen.

Jean Wolfe

Social media

Jean is responsible for ensuring SBN events are promoted on our Facebook and Instagram pages. In time, Jean will also be developing SBN’s LinkedIn content and working with members to ensure that everyone who uses social media gains visibility for their business.

Diane Young

Administrator

As SBN’s invaluable administrator, Diane’s key role is to keep things running smoothly, supporting the volunteer committee with everything from managing memberships and coordinating meetings to overseeing social events and producing the newsletter. Diane is everyone’s first point of contact for all things SBN, so if you have any questions, please drop her an email, and she will do her best to assist!
